What's Happening?
Avantus, a renewable energy developer, has announced the commercial operation of its Aratina 1 solar-plus-storage project in Kern County, California. The facility, which includes a 200-MW solar installation paired with a 500-MWh battery storage system,
has secured long-term power purchase agreements with Central Coast Community Energy and Silicon Valley Clean Energy. This project marks a significant step for Avantus as it transitions from a clean energy developer to an independent power producer.

What's Next?
Avantus is currently constructing Aratina 2, the second phase of the Aratina Solar Center, which is expected to be operational by the end of the year. This expansion will increase the combined capacity of the Aratina Solar Center to 350 MW of solar power and 952 MWh of energy storage. Avantus is also pursuing additional projects, such as the Rexford 2 solar-plus-storage project in Tulare County, California, which is slated to begin construction next year.
