A recent study by MobiLoud reveals that the United States ranks as the top country for online shopping, with British consumers following closely behind. The study, which reviewed 52 countries, found that Brits spend approximately £1,993 per person annually
on online shopping, making them the second-most enthusiastic online shoppers globally. The UK scored 71.57 out of 100 on the Online Shopping Obsession Score, which combines data on annual online spending, the proportion of consumer goods bought online, and the percentage of the population who shop online. The study highlights the maturity of the UK's ecommerce market, where online shopping is deeply embedded in everyday life.

The findings underscore the significant role of ecommerce in the UK economy, with online sales expected to surpass offline sales during the upcoming Black Friday Cyber Monday (BFCM) period. This trend reflects a shift in consumer behavior towards digital-first shopping experiences, driven by strong logistics and trusted payment systems. As mobile commerce is projected to account for over half of all online transactions during BFCM, retailers are prioritizing mobile-first experiences to capture consumer spending.
