What's Happening?
Under Azerbaijan's four-year chairmanship, the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) has significantly prioritized strengthening its international role and institutional development. Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, highlighted these contributions
during an event at the Headquarters of the Non-Aligned Movement Youth Organisation (NAMYO). Key initiatives include the establishment of the Non-Aligned Movement Youth Network, which later transformed into a Youth Organisation, and the creation of the Parliamentary Network. These developments, initiated by President Ilham Aliyev, aim to provide international platforms for youth and unite the parliaments of NAM Member States. Azerbaijan's leadership also played a crucial role in fostering solidarity within the NAM during the COVID-19 pandemic, including initiatives for an online summit and a Special session of the UN General Assembly on COVID-19, and efforts to ensure equitable access to vaccines.
