What's Happening?
Fincantieri's underwater systems subsidiary, WASS, has secured a significant contract with the Indian Navy to supply Black Shark Advanced (BSA) heavyweight torpedoes for its Scorpène-class submarine fleet. This contract, valued at over €200 million, marks
the largest order for WASS to date. The agreement includes the delivery of torpedoes, launch systems, maintenance equipment, and spare parts, providing a comprehensive support package. Deliveries are scheduled between 2028 and 2030, with production taking place at WASS's facility in Livorno, Italy. The Black Shark Advanced torpedo is already in use by the Italian Navy and six other international navies, known for its advanced capabilities and reliability.
