Finnish company Kelluu has showcased its aerostat technology at the NATO Task Force X Eastern Flank Deterrence Line (TFX EFDL) technical demonstration in Riihimäki, Finland. The event, held from December 8 to 10, highlighted the aerostat's ability to provide
12-hour persistent surveillance with a payload capacity of up to 5 kg. The system is designed to operate in extreme Arctic conditions, withstanding temperatures as low as -33°C. A Kelluu representative noted that the aerostat has been deployed 100 km from the Russian border and has been utilized by an undisclosed NATO country. The aerostat is equipped with a passive sensor from Saab, known as the Sirius Compact R-ESM (A20R), which autonomously processes signal information to enhance situational awareness without storing sensitive data. Kelluu's CEO, Janne Hietala, mentioned that the aerostat, initially a civilian system, has completed five missions for NATO this year.
