What's Happening?
The World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) convened its 45th Affiliate Members Plenary Session during the 26th UN Tourism General Assembly in Riyadh. Approximately 200 delegates from over 100 affiliated
entities gathered to discuss the state of Affiliate Membership and review achievements since the last session in October 2023. The session focused on expanding membership with a quality-oriented and geographically balanced approach. The Affiliate Members and Public-Private Collaboration Department presented the Programme of Work for 2026-2027, highlighting initiatives to be implemented with UN Tourism's support. A segment of the session was dedicated to the 1st UN Tourism Awards for Excellence in Sustainable Sports Tourism, recognizing projects that integrate sustainability and innovation in sports tourism.
