Ann and Oscar 'Pepe' Perron, a couple from Cumberland County, have been honored with the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Philanthropy by the Tennessee Board of Regents. The award recognizes their significant contributions to Roane State Community
College, particularly the Diane and Jay Brown Campus in Crossville. Since 1995, the Perrons have supported the college through various means, including financial gifts and advocacy for campus development. Their efforts have led to the establishment of a permanent facility in Crossville and the expansion of health science programs, which have greatly benefited local students. The couple has also pledged substantial funds for a new health science wing and established a scholarship fund.
Why It's Important?
The philanthropic efforts of the Perrons have had a profound impact on Roane State Community College and the local community. By supporting the expansion of educational facilities and programs, they have helped remove barriers for students seeking health-related education, thereby enhancing access to higher education in the region. Their contributions not only support individual students through scholarships but also strengthen the college's infrastructure and academic offerings. This recognition highlights the critical role of philanthropy in advancing educational opportunities and community development, setting a precedent for others to contribute to similar causes.
