What's Happening?
The Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (JREEEF) has initiated a new training course titled 'ISO 50001 Lead Auditor for Energy Management Systems.' This course is organized in collaboration
with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and aims to bolster national capacities and improve energy efficiency across various sectors, particularly the industrial sector. JREEEF's Director, Rasmi Hamzeh, emphasized the government's support for the industrial sector to enhance competitiveness and growth by applying energy management standards and conducting energy audits. The Fund has already conducted energy audits for 180 factories. Simon Floeth from GIZ highlighted the importance of this collaboration in supporting industrial sectors and improving performance. The course involves 20 trainees who will learn about the ISO 50001 Energy Management System standard, enabling them to implement the system effectively within their institutions.
Why It's Important?
This initiative is significant as it addresses the need for improved energy efficiency in the industrial sector, which is crucial for reducing consumption costs and enhancing competitiveness. By training professionals in ISO 50001 standards, the program aims to promote sustainability and energy performance improvements in manufacturing facilities. The collaboration between JREEEF and GIZ underscores the importance of international cooperation in advancing energy efficiency technologies. This effort is part of a broader strategy to transition towards clean and sustainable energy, which is vital for economic growth and environmental sustainability. The program also aims to qualify national talent for the labor market, thereby contributing to the development of the business sector.
What's Next?
The JREEEF plans to conduct additional training programs to further strengthen national competencies in energy management and efficiency. These programs will provide specialized technical skills to participants, supporting the implementation of energy efficiency technologies in factories. The ongoing collaboration with GIZ will continue to play a key role in these efforts, with a focus on employing specialized engineers and providing technical support to participating factories. This strategic vision aligns with the Kingdom's goals to advance towards clean energy solutions and improve industrial performance.
