What's Happening?
Students from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (NCTA) achieved top honors at the 2026 North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) Judging Conference. The event, held at Illinois State University, featured competitions in crops
and precision agriculture. NCTA's team secured first place in both categories, with individual students also earning top placements. The contests are designed to simulate real-world agricultural careers, providing students with hands-on experience and technical expertise. Dr. Brad Ramsdale, NCTA agronomy professor, emphasized the importance of these contests in building confidence and skills among students.
Why It's Important?
The success of NCTA students in these national contests highlights the effectiveness of the college's agronomy program in preparing students for careers in agriculture. As the agriculture industry faces challenges such as climate change and food security, skilled professionals are essential for developing innovative solutions. The achievements of NCTA students demonstrate the value of practical, hands-on education in equipping future agricultural leaders with the necessary skills to address these challenges. This success also enhances the reputation of NCTA's program, potentially attracting more students and resources.
