Agnico Eagle Mines and Nukik Corp., a 100% Inuit-owned company, have signed a memorandum of understanding to advance the Kivalliq Hydro-Fibre Link (KHFL) project. This initiative aims to deliver clean, renewable power and high-speed connectivity to the Kivalliq region
in Nunavut, Canada. The project involves a 1,200-kilometer transmission and telecom corridor that will provide up to 150 megawatts of electricity and expand broadband services from northern Manitoba to several Kivalliq communities. The collaboration reflects years of technical work and planning, with increasing government support for this Inuit-led solution to address infrastructure gaps in the region. The KHFL is expected to significantly reduce diesel consumption, support economic growth, and enhance energy reliability for local communities and industries.
