Sanmar Launches Third Electric Tugboat for Turkish State-Owned Company

Sanmar has launched the third of four fully electric tugboats in its ElectRA Series for BOTAŞ, Turkey's state-owned crude oil and natural gas pipeline company. These tugboats are based on the ElectRA 2500SX design by Canadian naval architects Robert Allan Ltd. The series is a result of Sanmar's collaboration with Robert Allan Ltd and Corvus Energy, aiming to produce eco-friendly, low-emission tugs using alternative fuels and advanced technology. Each tugboat has a battery capacity of 5,085 kWh, achieving 70 tonnes of bollard pull and speeds of 12 knots. They are equipped with backup diesel gensets for fire-fighting and extended endurance, accommodating up to eight crew members. The tugboats are designed for various tasks, including escort duties.
