What's Happening?
The IOI Foundation, in collaboration with MicFront Public Speaking, successfully hosted Malaysia's largest public speaking event at IOI Mall Damansara from July 4 to 5, 2026. The event gathered over 1,000 participants, surpassing the previous record of
605 participants, and marked an official attempt to set a new Malaysia Book of Records. The initiative aimed to foster confidence and youth leadership, empowering participants from diverse age groups, including children as young as five and adults aged 18 and above. The event attracted approximately 3,000 attendees and featured speeches on Malaysia's culture, food, natural beauty, and everyday heroes under the theme 'Let's Celebrate Malaysia.'

This event is significant as it highlights the importance of public speaking in nation-building and personal development. By providing a platform for Malaysians to express themselves, the initiative aims to nurture a generation of confident individuals who can contribute positively to society. Public speaking is a vital skill that can lead to increased self-confidence and improved communication abilities, which are essential for leadership and innovation. The event also serves as a cultural celebration, promoting national pride and unity among participants and attendees.
What's Next?
Following the successful event, 205 participants will advance to the regional semifinals, with 95 speakers earning a spot in the national finals scheduled for September 12 and 13, 2026, at IOI City Mall. Finalists will compete for national titles, and the Malaysia Book of Records certificate will be officially presented. The event organizers aim to continue fostering public speaking skills among Malaysians, with hopes of expanding the initiative to reach more participants in the future.
