Marc Carnes has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Adelaide Fringe, following a global search. Carnes, a Canadian arts and culture leader, previously served as CEO of CKUA Radio in Alberta, where he led a significant transformation
of the broadcaster. He also has experience in the fringe festival sector, having chaired the Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Society. His appointment is part of Adelaide Fringe's strategy to strengthen its position as a leading open-access arts festival. Carnes will officially begin his role on July 1, 2026, with his first festival as CEO scheduled for 2027.
