economies are expanding market access for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and fostering a more diversified global trading system. However, disparities in digital infrastructure and logistics capacity across regions mean that the benefits of digital trade are not evenly distributed. The digital economy is growing at an annual rate of 10-12%, significantly outpacing overall global economic growth. In 2023, global digitally deliverable services trade reached $4.5 trillion, reshaping the global economy and international trade.

The digital economy represents a crucial opportunity for developing countries to narrow the development gap with the Global North. It offers a pathway for leapfrog development due to lower investment requirements and shorter construction cycles compared to traditional infrastructure. However, challenges such as inadequate digital infrastructure and a widening digital divide persist. The digital economy's growth is vital for economic recovery and sustainable development, providing new employment opportunities and enhancing financial inclusion. It also helps optimize trade structures and lower cross-border trade barriers for SMEs, although the benefits are not yet evenly distributed.

Policymakers must focus on transforming the digital revolution into a driver of sustainable development, ensuring that digital technologies effectively serve more balanced development objectives.
