The U.S. Department of Transportation has approved eight pilot programs for electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, commonly known as air taxis, across 26 states. These 100% electric vehicles resemble drones but operate like helicopters,

Joby Aviation, supported by Delta Air Lines, has already conducted demonstration flights between Manhattan and JFK Airport, reducing travel time to just 10 minutes.
