Cambodian telecommunications company Cellcard has entered into a partnership with local ride-hailing service PassApp to enhance the travel experience using 5G technology. The agreement, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), allows PassApp drivers
and customers to use the ride-hailing app without incurring internet charges, thanks to sponsored data provided by both companies. Additionally, Cellcard will supply 5G-enabled SIM cards to PassApp's driver-partners, ensuring stable internet connectivity and efficient customer service. This initiative aims to improve the speed and reliability of communication between drivers and passengers, facilitating smoother travel experiences. The collaboration also plans to enable users to purchase and activate Cellcard eSIMs directly through the PassApp application. This move follows a similar agreement between Smart Axiata and Grab, which also focuses on integrating 5G services with ride-hailing and tourism-related offerings.
