LEGO Education is advancing computer science education for K-8 students by integrating artificial intelligence into its curriculum. The program includes kits with LEGO bricks, interactive hardware, and tech-enabled components such as motors and sensors.
These kits are designed for collaborative learning, allowing students to work in small groups to explore computational thinking concepts. The curriculum offers 30 inquiry-based lessons that can be integrated into existing programs or serve as standalone computer science courses. The software used in the curriculum has two parts: a teacher portal with lesson plans and a student-facing coding experience. Younger students use an icon-based programming language, while older students engage with word-based programming similar to Scratch.
