What's Happening?
The U.S. Army has awarded two contracts totaling nearly $196 million for electronic warfare (EW) related sensors. These are the first production deals under the Army's Rapid Electromagnetic Warfare and Signals Intelligence (REWSI) call for solutions,
initiated in April. Heaviside Industries Inc. received $99 million for its MOTH spectrum analyzer, designed to detect and report signals in the electromagnetic spectrum operations (EMSO) for ground units. Research Innovations Inc. was awarded $96.9 million for its AI-driven Dragonfly sensors, which will be integrated with Menet Aero’s Intrepid drone. The REWSI program aims to streamline the acquisition of commercial EW tools and provide faster access to advanced technologies to counter evolving threats in the electromagnetic spectrum. This initiative reflects the Army's shift from developing proprietary systems to leveraging market velocity to stay ahead of adversaries.
