rock salt to lower the freezing point of water on roads. However, Midgley cautions that this does not guarantee ice-free roads, as black ice can still pose a significant risk. The salt used is effective down to -7°C, but its effectiveness decreases at lower temperatures. Midgley advises drivers to exercise caution by driving slower, braking gently, and maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles.
