What's Happening?
The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is set to announce the dates for the ICAR CUET UG counselling for the 2026-27 academic year. This counselling process will allow students with valid Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores to apply
for admission to 13 undergraduate courses in agriculture and allied sciences. The courses are offered at the Agricultural University, and only those who qualify in the CUET UG 2026 exam will be eligible for registration and choice filling. The announcement of the counselling schedule will follow the declaration of the CUET UG 2026 results. Last year, 6002 seats were available across 12 programs, and the number of seats for the upcoming academic year will be disclosed in the counselling information bulletin.
Why It's Important?
The ICAR UG counselling is a critical gateway for students aspiring to enter the field of agriculture and allied sciences, which are vital sectors in India. By streamlining the admission process through a centralized counselling system, ICAR ensures that only qualified candidates gain entry, thereby maintaining high educational standards. This process also provides transparency and equal opportunity for students across the country. The outcome of this counselling will impact the future workforce in agriculture, a sector crucial for food security and economic stability. Additionally, the counselling process can influence the distribution of scholarships, further supporting students in their educational pursuits.
What's Next?
Following the announcement of the counselling dates, students will need to prepare for the registration and choice filling process. They will have to carefully consider their options based on their CUET scores and the availability of seats in their desired courses. The final allocation of seats will depend on the students' performance and preferences. Stakeholders, including educational institutions and policymakers, will be closely monitoring the process to ensure it runs smoothly and fairly. The results of this counselling will also provide insights into the demand for various agricultural courses, potentially influencing future educational policies and resource allocation.
