What's Happening?
Meross has announced a new version of its MS600 presence sensor, now battery-powered, allowing for installation in locations without the need for a power cord. The MS605 presence sensor is powered by a single
CR123A battery, offering up to three years of battery life. The sensor supports Matter over the low-power Thread protocol, requiring a Thread-capable hub for integration with smart home systems like Google Home, Apple Home, or Alexa. The MS605 features an articulated mounting plate, IP67 waterproof rating, and a combination of light, passive infrared, and mmWave radar sensors for detecting motion and presence.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of a battery-powered presence sensor by Meross enhances flexibility and convenience for users, allowing for installation in a wider range of locations. The support for Matter-over-Thread protocol ensures compatibility with various smart home systems, promoting interoperability and ease of use. The sensor's design and features, including waterproofing and advanced detection capabilities, make it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, expanding its potential applications. This development reflects the growing trend towards smart home automation and the demand for versatile and efficient devices.
