What's Happening?
FEMA has approved over $9 million in federal funding to support recovery and mitigation projects in South Carolina following the impacts of Hurricane Helene and Tropical Storm Debby. The funding will be distributed across 21 projects, including significant
allocations for infrastructure repairs. Notable projects include $3.3 million for the North Burris Road bridge in York County, over $700,000 for culvert repairs in Simpsonville, and more than $500,000 for road and bridge work in Anderson County. Additional funds will support debris removal, emergency protective measures, and park repairs in various counties. The federal government will cover at least 75% of the recovery costs through FEMA's Public Assistance and Hazard Mitigation programs.
