The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new temple in North Alabama on Sunday. Church leaders from across the country gathered in Madison, Alabama, to mark the start of construction. The new temple will be
located at the intersection of Gillespie and Browns Ferry Road. This will be only the second LDS temple in Alabama, with the other situated in Birmingham. Elder John Amos, attending from Salt Lake City, emphasized that the temple's architecture is intentionally designed to serve as a visible landmark and a "beacon of light" for the surrounding community. Construction is anticipated to take a couple of years to complete.
