What's Happening?
Ontario County has inaugurated its first emergency homeless shelter for families, named the Shill Family Center, located in Canandaigua. The center, funded by the Molly and Ed Shill Cares Foundation, aims to provide temporary shelter and support services
for up to seven families at a time. This initiative comes in response to a growing need for emergency housing in the county, where approximately 24 families, or about 100 people, may require shelter on any given night. The center will offer not only shelter but also individualized case management, housing assistance, employment support, and financial independence services to help families transition back to stable living conditions.
