Researchers have developed an AI tool capable of predicting Alzheimer’s disease with nearly 93% accuracy by analyzing MRI brain scans. The study, conducted by Worcester Polytechnic Institute, utilized machine learning to measure brain volume across 95
regions, identifying patterns associated with cognitive impairment and Alzheimer’s. The tool was tested on data from the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative, involving participants aged 69 to 84. Key findings highlighted volume loss in the hippocampus and other brain regions as strong indicators of the disease, suggesting potential for early diagnosis and intervention.
