The Australian Border Force (ABF) has successfully intercepted two foreign fishing vessels in northern Queensland and the Torres Strait as part of Operation BROADSTAFF. This operation, launched recently, aims to deter and disrupt illegal foreign fishing activities

During intelligence-led patrols on February 14 and 15, 2026, ABF officers, in collaboration with partner agencies, intercepted the vessels near Hawkesbury Island and Thursday Island. The ABF, after consulting with the Australian Fisheries Management Authority, seized the equipment and escorted the vessels out of Australian waters.
