What's Happening?
Jiangnan Shipyard, part of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, has signed a contract with Southwest Shipping to build two 90,000 m³ Very Large Ammonia Carriers (VLACs). These vessels feature a new low-drag hull design and an LPG dual-fuel propulsion
system, significantly reducing emissions. The project is part of Jiangnan's broader strategy to enhance its market influence in the gas carrier sector, with delivery expected in 2028.
