William J. Keenan, a respected educator and community leader, passed away on July 30, 2025, at the age of 91. Born in Chicago, Keenan dedicated his life to education, beginning his career in 1956 as a teacher at Calumet High School. He later served as a guidance counselor and assistant principal at Kennedy High School, where he developed numerous programs to support students and parents. Keenan was also known for his work in adult education, helping over 500 adults earn their high school diplomas. After retiring from Kennedy High School in 1994, he continued to teach driver education until 2011. Keenan was a passionate jazz historian and a fan of Notre Dame, the Blackhawks, and the White Sox.
