The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has established a simulated town at its Huntsville, Alabama campus, designed to train law enforcement personnel in handling cyberattacks. Known as the Kinetic Cyber Range, this artificial town spans over 2,000
square meters and includes various facilities such as houses, a hotel, a gas station, a supermarket, a courthouse, a hospital, and a power plant. These facilities are equipped with real-world technologies, allowing investigators to practice responding to cyber threats in a controlled environment. The town also features a data center with over 200 physical servers running Windows and Linux operating systems, providing a realistic setting for digital forensics training. Since its opening in February 2025, more than 1,400 specialists have undergone training at the facility.
