Eight Flags Energy LLC, a subsidiary of Chesapeake Utilities, operates a combined heat and power (CHP) plant on Amelia Island, Florida. The facility, which began operations in 2016, is part of a 20-year agreement with Rayonier Advanced Materials Inc. (RYAM) to provide low-cost steam and power. The plant, featuring a Solar Titan 250 gas turbine and a Rentech heat recovery steam generator, supplies electricity to Florida Public Utilities (FPU) and steam to RYAM's cellulose products manufacturing facility. The plant has maintained a high capacity factor, often reaching 100% for extended periods, and is expected to save FPU approximately $28 million over the agreement's duration.
