What's Happening?
Orlando International Airport conducted a full-scale emergency response exercise, simulating a natural gas pipeline rupture and explosion. The exercise, named Operation Dark Horizon, involved nearly 100 participants, including first responders, emergency managers,
and volunteers. Funded by the Pipeline Emergency Response Grant, the drill aimed to enhance coordination among various agencies in handling high-consequence incidents. Participants included the Orlando Fire Department, Orange County Fire Rescue, and other regional emergency services. The exercise was designed to test and improve interagency collaboration and preparedness for real-world emergencies.
