Global operator Sparkle has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with NaiTel, the telecom arm of Aqaba Digital Hub, and consultancy firm iLevant to extend the GreenMed submarine cable system through Jordan. This initiative aims to integrate
the GreenMed subsea cable, which connects Italy to Turkey and the Mediterranean, with terrestrial fiber networks and regional interconnection platforms in Jordan. The project is designed to bolster connectivity resilience across the Mediterranean and support the development of a diversified digital infrastructure linking Europe and Asia. Jordan, already a landing point for several submarine cable systems, is positioned as a strategic terrestrial gateway on the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor.
