Joan Marquardt Overgaard, a beloved community member and lifelong sports fan, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on December 7, 2025, in Peabody, Massachusetts. Born in Chicago, she spent 46 years
in Homewood, Illinois, where she was deeply involved in community and faith organizations. Joan was a kindergarten teacher before becoming a full-time homemaker and later re-entered the workforce as a preschool teacher and travel agent. After her husband's passing, she moved to the Boston area to be closer to her children and became an active member of the Brooksby Village community. Joan was known for her dedication to her church, her love for sports teams like the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics, and her ability to uplift those around her. A Celebration of Life and Faith service is scheduled for January 10th at West Church of Peabody.
