What's Happening?
Illustrator Sergio Baradat has been commissioned by the United Nations to create artwork for their 'No Nukes' postage campaign. This initiative is a response to the ongoing threats of nuclear weapon use
by various factions. The stamp series, designed to promote peace and disarmament, will initially be used exclusively by the UN before being released to the public on August 14, 2025. Baradat's work aims to raise awareness and encourage dialogue on nuclear disarmament.
Why It's Important?
The 'No Nukes' campaign is a significant effort by the United Nations to address global concerns about nuclear proliferation and the potential consequences of nuclear conflict. By using art as a medium, the campaign seeks to engage a wider audience and foster a culture of peace. The release of these stamps is expected to spark discussions on disarmament policies and the role of international organizations in promoting global security. This initiative highlights the power of art in influencing public opinion and policy.
