Israel's Defense Minister, Israel Katz, has declared the area adjacent to the Israel-Egypt border a closed military zone in response to increased drone-enabled weapons smuggling. This decision follows
an emergency meeting and the creation of a special unit by Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir to address the threat.
