What's Happening?
Two churches in Hull, St Mary Queen of Martyrs and St Philip's, are set to receive funding from Hull City Council's Crime Prevention Fund to enhance their security measures. St Mary Queen of Martyrs, located
on the Bransholme estate, will receive up to £14,000 for new fencing and CCTV installations. St Philip's in Bilton Grange will be allocated up to £10,000 for new PVC doors following a break-in earlier this year. The Crime Prevention Fund, established in 2022, provides grants of up to £25,000 to combat crime and antisocial behavior in the community.
Why It's Important?
The funding initiative reflects Hull City Council's commitment to improving community safety and reducing crime rates. By investing in security enhancements for local churches, the council aims to protect these community landmarks from vandalism and antisocial behavior. This effort not only safeguards the physical integrity of the churches but also fosters a sense of security and well-being among residents. The initiative underscores the importance of collaborative efforts between local authorities and communities to address crime and enhance public safety.
