What's Happening?
The 14th Annual Credit Union Sactown Run took place at Capitol Mall, drawing more than 2,000 runners and walkers. This community event, organized by California's Credit Unions, supports the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals across California and Nevada,
including UC Davis Children's Hospital. This year's event featured Annabelle Lee, the 2026 Miracle Child, who underwent open heart surgery at UC Davis Children's Hospital as an infant. The event aims to raise awareness and funds for children's health initiatives, highlighting the importance of community involvement in healthcare support.
Why It's Important?
The Sactown Run underscores the critical role of community events in supporting healthcare initiatives, particularly for children. By bringing together a large number of participants, the event not only raises significant funds but also increases awareness about congenital heart defects and the work of children's hospitals. This type of community engagement is vital for sustaining healthcare programs that rely on public support and donations. The event also highlights the impact of personal stories, like that of Annabelle Lee, in mobilizing community action and empathy.
