The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is advancing plant science by inviting universities and stakeholders to develop artificial intelligence (AI) tools aimed at processing extensive germplasm data. This initiative is part of the Genesis Mission and the Agriculture Advanced
Research and Development Authority (AgARDA), which will launch an Agricultural National Science & Technology Challenge later this year. The challenge seeks innovative solutions that integrate various data types, such as images and lab results, to identify key plant and seed traits. This effort is intended to produce more resilient and productive crops. Dr. Scott Hutchins, USDA Chief Scientist, emphasized the importance of modern tools in accelerating agricultural innovation.
