Paula Baron, a dedicated educator and social justice activist, passed away peacefully at her home in Chicago on January 13, 2026, at the age of 91. Born Paula Levin, she was a lifelong resident of Chicago, where she made significant contributions to education
and community activism. Paula graduated from Hyde Park High School and pursued higher education at the University of Michigan and the University of Chicago, where she earned a master's degree in history. She married Hal Baron at the age of 19 and together they raised a family while she worked full-time as a history teacher in the Chicago Public School system. After retiring in 1996, Paula continued to influence future educators as a supervisor of student teachers at Northeastern University until 2008. Her legacy is marked by her commitment to family, teaching, and activism, leaving behind three children, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
