The initiative, known as the 'Economic Transformation Action Plan: A Blueprint for Economic Growth and Freshwater Stewardship in the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River Region,' outlines 17 strategies and 76 actions for local governments and stakeholders. Key goals include attracting 500,000 new sustainable businesses, creating 18 million jobs, improving water quality, and reducing emissions by 300 million metric tons by 2035. The plan emphasizes the region's potential to become one of North America's fastest-growing economies while safeguarding its vast freshwater resources.
