What's Happening?
Toyota has partnered with McDonald's and Tomica to offer the GR GT3 race car as a Happy Meal toy in Japan. This collaboration includes several die-cast models, such as a Toyota TownAce flat-bed truck carrying a hamburger. The GR GT3 toy will be available
starting April 10, exclusively at McDonald's locations in Japan. The promotion is accompanied by a video reminiscent of the Speed Racer franchise, featuring child race car drivers competing in GR GT3 liveries. Additionally, Toyota announced a contest for designing new GR GT3 liveries, with winners receiving special prizes.
Why It's Important?
This initiative by Toyota and McDonald's highlights the cultural significance of toy collecting in Japan, where gashapon machines are popular. By offering the GR GT3 as a Happy Meal toy, Toyota taps into this cultural phenomenon, potentially increasing brand engagement among younger audiences. The collaboration also serves as a marketing strategy to promote Toyota's racing heritage and the GR GT3 model. The contest for designing liveries further engages the community, fostering creativity and brand loyalty.
