Melbourne Airport is inviting community feedback on a draft Noise Sharing Plan, which aims to manage aircraft noise distribution when the new north-south runway becomes operational in 2031. The plan, a condition of the Federal Government's approval, seeks to provide communities with periods of respite from aircraft noise by exploring different runway operating modes. Independent consultants are leading the development of the plan, which includes input from communities already affected by noise and those that may experience changes in flight paths. The engagement process will begin in October 2025, with opportunities for online and face-to-face participation.
