What's Happening?
The Office of Emergency Management (A/OEM) within the Department of State is intensifying its efforts to bolster national security through enhanced IT infrastructure. This initiative is part of the Department's responsibilities under Presidential Policy
Directive 40 (PPD-40), which mandates a comprehensive national continuity policy. The A/OEM is tasked with developing emergency and continuity plans to ensure readiness against threats such as natural disasters, military and terrorist attacks, and technological emergencies. The current focus is on obtaining support for Audio Visual (AV), Telecommunications/PBX, and Information Technology (IT) communications systems. These efforts aim to support the Bureau's continuity-specific hardware and software applications, telecommunications/networking systems, and continuity communications operations. The IT specialists involved are responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting secure and non-secure IT infrastructure, ensuring the continuity of mission-critical operations across Department facilities.
