What's Happening?
The Northeast Arkansas Rice Research and Extension Center in Harrisburg is hosting the Agriculture Across All Curriculum Showcase on May 12. The event, led by Ashlyn Ussery, an extension agriculture and natural resources educator, will feature demonstrations
on the physical and mechanical properties in agriculture. Ussery will use practical examples, such as using sandpaper to demonstrate the removal of rice hulls, to align with Arkansas' academic standards. The showcase aims to integrate agricultural education across various curricula, highlighting the importance of hands-on learning in understanding agricultural processes.
Why It's Important?
This showcase is crucial for promoting agricultural literacy and education in Arkansas. By aligning with academic standards, the event ensures that students receive relevant and practical knowledge about agriculture, which is a significant industry in the state. The hands-on approach helps demystify agricultural processes, making them accessible and engaging for students. This initiative supports the development of future agricultural professionals and informed citizens who understand the importance of agriculture in their daily lives and the economy.
