Laura Krouse, owner of Abbe Hills Farm in Mount Vernon, Iowa, has been awarded the 2026 Sustainable Agriculture Achievement Award by Practical Farmers of Iowa (PFI). This accolade honors individuals who
have demonstrated a strong commitment to sustainable agriculture and have significantly contributed to fostering vibrant communities and diverse farms. Krouse, recognized as a pioneer in Iowa's local foods movement, has been actively involved in sustainable farming for over 30 years. She established one of Iowa's first community-supported agriculture (CSA) programs and has been instrumental in providing fresh, nutritious food to her community.
