What's Happening?
The National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) is seeking candidates for a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) position. This role is part of a project aimed at developing
rapid point-of-care testing (POCT) biosensor kits to detect antibiotic residues in milk, a critical issue in the dairy supply chain. The project is designed to create diagnostic tools that can be used at farms or collection centers to ensure milk safety. The position offers a monthly salary of ₹42,000 plus housing rent allowance and is initially set for nine months, with potential extensions based on performance. Candidates with a B.Tech in Biotechnology or an M.Sc./M.Tech in related fields and at least two years of experience in biosensor development are encouraged to apply.
Why It's Important?
This initiative is significant as it addresses a major public health concern by ensuring the safety of milk, a staple in many diets. The development of these biosensor kits could revolutionize the dairy industry by providing quick and reliable testing methods, thereby reducing the risk of antibiotic contamination. This project not only enhances food safety but also supports the dairy industry's compliance with health regulations. It represents a step forward in integrating advanced biotechnology with food safety practices, potentially setting a precedent for similar innovations in other sectors.
What's Next?
Interested candidates must apply by January 10, 2026. The selection process will involve shortlisting candidates for interviews, which will be communicated via email. Successful implementation of this project could lead to broader applications of biosensor technology in other areas of food safety and public health, potentially influencing regulatory standards and industry practices.
