What's Happening?
Construction has begun on Serenity Gardens, a 153-unit affordable senior housing community in Miami Gardens, Florida. Developed by SG Holdings and New Urban Development, the project aims to address the shortage of affordable housing for seniors in Miami-Dade
County. The development will offer studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, supporting community revitalization and creating job opportunities. Financing is provided by JPMorgan Chase & Co., with Low-Income Housing Tax Credit equity from Santander Group through Red Stone Equity Partners. The project is expected to be completed by late 2028.
Why It's Important?
Serenity Gardens addresses the critical need for affordable senior housing in South Florida, where the demand for such accommodations is high. By providing modern, affordable residences, the project supports seniors in aging with dignity and contributes to community revitalization. The development also stimulates the local economy by creating jobs during and after construction. This initiative reflects a growing trend of public-private partnerships in addressing housing shortages, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts in tackling complex social issues.
