What's Happening?
Veolia, in collaboration with the Water Environment Federation (WEF) and the American Water Works Association (AWWA), has launched the Veolia Workforce Academy North America. This free, fully digital training platform aims to prepare individuals for roles
in the water and wastewater sectors. The initiative addresses a growing workforce gap caused by retirements and increasing technical demands. The academy offers certification-aligned coursework to expand access to careers in the U.S. water sector, helping to ensure a skilled workforce to manage the nation's water resources.
Why It's Important?
The launch of the Veolia Workforce Academy is a significant step in addressing the critical shortage of skilled workers in the water sector. As the industry faces increasing technical demands and a wave of retirements, this initiative provides a pathway for new entrants to gain necessary skills and certifications. By expanding access to training, the academy supports the sustainability and efficiency of water utilities, which are essential for public health and environmental protection. The program also highlights the importance of digital education in meeting workforce needs.
