What's Happening?
Minor Hotels has announced the signing of its first Anantara Hotels & Resorts properties in India, marking a significant expansion of the brand in the country. The Anantara Zanti Coorg Resort is scheduled to open in 2028, located in the UNESCO-recognized
Western Ghats, and will offer immersive experiences and refined hospitality. The resort will feature 69 keys and include facilities such as dining venues, a swimming pool, a spa, and a wellness center. Additionally, the Anantara Kolkata Hotel is set to open in 2032 within the World Trade Center Salt Lake Kolkata, designed to cater to business and leisure travelers. This expansion is part of Minor Hotels' strategy to introduce its luxury and premium brands in key cities and leisure destinations across India.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of Anantara Hotels & Resorts in India by Minor Hotels signifies a strategic move to capture the growing domestic travel market and attract international visitors. By expanding into Coorg and Kolkata, Minor Hotels aims to leverage India's rich cultural heritage and natural beauty to offer experiential luxury stays. This expansion aligns with the increasing demand for wellness-led resorts and contemporary lifestyle hotels in India. The development of these properties is expected to boost local economies, create job opportunities, and enhance India's standing as a destination for luxury hospitality. Furthermore, the partnership with local developers reflects a commitment to sustainable growth and cultural integration.
What's Next?
Minor Hotels plans to continue its expansion in India, targeting 50 properties within the next decade. The company will focus on introducing its select-service brands, such as NH, Oaks, and iStay, to tier two and tier three cities, as well as airport locations. This strategy aims to address the supply gap in emerging Indian cities and commercial hubs. The upcoming Anantara properties will join the existing portfolio, including Anantara Jewel Bagh Jaipur, and contribute to the brand's growth in India. As the properties open, they are expected to attract both domestic and international travelers, further solidifying Minor Hotels' presence in the Indian hospitality market.
