Cathay Cargo has announced a significant expansion of its intermodal perishables network, reinforcing Hong Kong's position as a key international cargo gateway for the Greater Bay Area (GBA). The company has introduced a new refrigerated barge service
connecting Hong Kong International Airport directly to Dongguan, and extended its Air-Land Fresh Lane to Macao. These developments aim to enhance connectivity and service assurance for shippers, offering more routing choices and stronger cold-chain integrity. The new barge service, which is the first commercial air-sea transport of refrigerated perishables into the GBA, provides flexible departure timings, catering to shipments prioritizing cost efficiency over speed. The Air-Land Fresh Lane extension allows perishables to reach Macao in as few as four hours, including all customs and quarantine processing. These routes operate under a single air waybill within the Cathay Cargo ecosystem, ensuring seamless cold-chain assurance.
